PRADA STORE TOKYO

Prada store in Tokyo

S

ince the opening of their incredible flagship store in New York, Prada have been taking chances in design and architecture, and their latest store in Tokyo is a structure to behold. The Prada “epicenter” store by Herzog and de Meuron in Tokyo’s fashionable Aoyama district is breathtaking in its design: A six-story, five-sided, glass crystal building with its signature, diamond-shaped glass panes. The glass panes vary between flat, concave and convex, creating a bubble effect in what would be an extremely angular design. According to its designers, the idea behind the new store is

“to reshape both the concept and function of shopping, pleasure and communication, to encourage the meshing of consumption and culture.”
